Former middleweight champion middleweight Daniel Geale (31-3, 16 KOs) pounded out a twelve round unanimous decision over Jarrod Fletcher (18-3, 10 KOs) on Wednesday night at the Horden Pavilion in Moore Park, New South Wales, Australia. Fletcher got off to a good start, but the tide turned in round five when Geale decked him with a big right hand. Geale was in command the rest of the way and went on to win 119-108 on all three cards.

Australian super middleweight champion Jake Carr (9-0,3KO’s) edged Renold Quinlan (8-1,4KO’s) over ten rounds to retain the national title. Carr’s superior work rate gave him the victory by scores 96-95, 96-95, 96-94. (Former world middleweight challenger Tony Mundine and his son Anthony, former WBA champion, were in Quinlan’s corner)

In the best bout of the night, former world rated Mark Flanagan (17-4,10KO’s) outscored Shane Quinn (10-2-1,8KO’s) over ten rounds to retain the Australian cruiserweight title in action packed contest that received a standing ovation by the 4000 fans in attendance. Quinn was dropped in rounds three and five. Both Flanagan 24 years and Quinn 38 years, were staggered frequently but it was the champion who was crowned the victor by scores 96-94,95-93,97-92.

Rugby league football star Paul Gallen (2-0,2KO’s) stopped fellow rugby league player Anthony Watts ( 1-1, 1 KO) in round one of a scheduled four round heavyweight bout when Watts dislocated his shoulder. Referee Mick Heafey raised Gallen’s hand the winner at
1.28 after Doctor Lou Lewis ruled the injury to severe to continue.

Cruiserweight Trent Broadhurst (13-1,8KO’s) clearly outscored Yousef Kanani ( (0-3) over four rounds Scores 40-36, 40-36, 40-36.

Heavyweight Willis Meehan (2-0,1KO) knocked out Alofa Solitua ( 0-5) in round one of a four. Meehan, 6.4″ dropped Solitua with a right hand shot and referee Les Fear crowned Meehan at 1-28. Meehan,19 years, is a promising Eastern suburbs rugby league player and also the son of former world heavyweight challenger Kali Meehan Willis is a former amateur star.

African heavyweight Paul Ognedghbe (1-0,1KO) stopped Nathan Reddy (0-1) in round four. Time 2-28.

Super middleweight Mark Lucas(1-0,1KO) stopped Travis Barton (1-6) at the conclusion of round three after his corner decided he was in no condition to continue.
